We (Larissa, myself and our new CSU friend Whitney) made our first big grocery shopping trip yesterday. We have located 2 grocery stores. One is smaller next door to Subway which we call the Subwaymarché, then a big super-market called SimplyMarket, which we just call Simply. There are a lot of American products, which we assumed, mixed with the French brands. You can also buy something, say a can of corn, in the French name brand or the Simply brand, like buying Green Giant or Great Value. We've been buying the the Simply brand. Trying to keep things in perspective, we wouldn't spring the extra 20 cents for the name brand item in America, so why would we here? Except Kleenex. We bought Kleenex brand tissues, not the cheap brand. But I'd do that in America as well. The wine/beer aisles are definitely the biggest sections at both stores though.
Also, the Subwaymarché, has a home comfort, just in case I really need it.
That's right, the nectar of the gods, Dr. Pepper. Merci beaucoup, produits du monde!
In other great news- I am updating from the comfort of my dormitory, not the Subway! Internet has finally been activated, which is really great because there is snow on the ground in Clermont-Ferrand right now. And it doesn't look like it will be going away anytime soon.
à demain!
